A Break or Break!

Glad to have you back💚

Sometimes we need to be reminded of things we already know by someone who isn’t us.

B.O.O

It gets to a certain point that you lack interest in certain things or you’re even interested in it but the vibe isn’t there. The energy just fades. You suddenly feel like you’re not being as creative as you usually are or you’re not getting the hang of something.

There’s that point that everyone comes to that all that’s on their mind centres around:

“I can’t kill myself!”

“I’m not going to stress myself!”

“I cannot can!”

“This is a lot!”

“I’m tired!”

The truth is the matter is you’re not alone. Everybody gets to this point.

Let’s talk about the solution.

When you get to this point, just take a break. What were you expecting to hear? This is something you already know so I’m just here giving you a little nudge reminding you what you already know but refuse to do. So yeah that’s it. Take a break.

You’re writing a piece and you run out of ideas? Take a break! You’re in a situation and there seems to be no way forward? Take a break!

I know how we twist things to favour us. Let me shake a few tables and shatter the tables if possible. I’m not saying become lazy in the name of taking a break. Taking a break is taking a little time off something not you abandoning the thing totally. Procrastination is not you taking a break, it’s just you being lazy. You only take a break from something that you’ve started doing and when you’re exhausted, you rest. Don’t procrastinate up and down or give up and call it a break. You’re just deceiving yourself.

When you’re extremely tired, you go to bed and when you wake up a few hours later you feel better. When you’re hot and you take a cool shower, you feel refreshed. Yeah? That’s exactly what taking a break does to you. It refreshes you. It helps you birth better ideas.

Take a walk, go to sleep, watch a movie, dance, listen to a song, pray, talk, most importantly breathe. I think we underestimate the relief that comes with inhaling and exhaling deeply. So yeah breathe! Breathe in and breathe out.

Taking a break from things isn’t you being a coward, it is a means of caring for you.

Sometimes taking a break simply means pausing. It means you are putting something on hold. It’s not until you take a two-week break or a long vacation that you’re taking a break. Taking a break can mean pausing for a second, resting for a minute or two.

You know how we underestimate the little things that actually matter? Yeah that’s how we underestimate taking a pause. Sometimes lots of things get destroyed, friendships break, relationships end all because one person didn’t pause for just a second or the other person didn’t take a minute or two to calm down.

That argument is getting out of hand? Pause!

That person is pissing you off badly and you want to give them a piece of your mind? Pause!

That person isn’t getting your point? Pause!

Allow just a second to pass and you’ll be glad you did.

You see that split second that you hold back or refrain from speaking or reacting? That’s you taking a break and stopping things from going south.

Sometimes you have everything planned out and everything is going just fine until it suddenly  isn’t going fine. What should you do? Pause.

When things aren’t going well, it’s probably because you’re stressed and you’re making the wrong decisions. If you rest or take a break when you come back to continue, you’ll realise that it’ll be easier and it’ll look just like magic because you’ll be at the top of your game.

Taking a break can lead to breakthroughs.

  2. Just as you’ve rightly stated, things that really matters aren’t treated as such. Thank you for ringing the bell, so resounding, that we can pay attention. Well done ma!

  3. Nice write up. Sometimes, I start writing something great and then I just lose the magic. When I try to convince myself to keep on writing, I end up destroying the work. So I realized something and came to a conclusion not to be so hard on myself. when the magic returns, I will write it, and if doesn’t… well… so be it. But magic never dies.
